Description: This point feature class has six subsets to classify data; isolation, gate, ball, plug, butterfly, and valve vault. Isolation valves control the flow of neutral and aggressive fluids. The key design characteristic of an isolation valve is they isolate fluid from the solenoid which is crucial for applications requiring high fluid purity and low dead volume. Gate valves are manual multi-purpose bi-directional shutoff valves. A ball is a form of quarter-turn valve which uses a hollow, perforated and pivoting ball to control flow through it. It is open when the ball's hole is in line with the flow and closed when it is pivoted 90-degrees by the valve handle. Plugs valves are cylindrical or conically tapered plugs which can be rotated inside the valve body to control flow through the valve. The plugs have one or more hollow passageways going sideways through the plug, so that fluid can flow through the plug when the valve is open.
